Using the AL-Desk Web Portal Server

The AL-Desk Web Portal Server can be run as both an Internet or HTTP Server to serve up standard XML and as a SOAP Server to support Web Services. To disable any server, just set the port to 0.

 

Network Admins: If you run both servers, make sure that your open up both ports on your firewall. Default ports are port 80 for the Internet server and port 8080 for the Soap Server.

Use Demo

If checked and the Demo AL-Desk Database points to a valid AL-Desk.db filename, this file will be used.

 

Live AL-Desk Database

Use the set button to browse and find the "live" AL-Desk Database.

 

Demo AL-Desk Database

Use the set button to browse and find the "demo" AL-Desk Database.

 

Port

The port the AL-Desk Web Portal Server will run on. The default port is 80 for Internet Servers. To not run the Internet server set the Port to 0.

 

Root Directory

The Directory where Web Pages are served from. There is a supplied index.htm page that contains a list of available AL-Desk server methods supported supplied with the installation.

 

Secure Server

If Checked, then only Valid IP Addresses as entered into the WiSecureServer table will be allowed to access the server.

 

Secure Servers

Shows any IP Addresses available to be used to Secure the server.

 

Refresh

Refreshes any IP Addresses entered or changed with the AL-Desk  client.

Auto Start

Will Auto Start the server when it's run. When configured to run as an NT service this should be set on so the service can start to run automatically on system boot.

 

Soap Port

The port the AL-Desk Web Portal SOAP Server will run on. The default port is 8080 for Soap Servers. To not run the Soap Server set the Port to 0.

 

Service Location

Used for SOAP Support the default value is the IP Address of the server as http://ServerIPAddress.

 

The SOAP standard requires a Service Location.

 

XML Format

Allows default XMLFormat to be defined.
